"No harm Anan," Xeiga said, glaring. As far as he was concerned this leopon was his. Whether he was his food or his ally had yet to be seen, but either way, he wasn't going to let two lions take him away. "Anan mother dead." Reading lion lips was much harder than hyena lips, and he was honestly a little clueless.

Anan was still absolutely terrified, especially upon hearing the big lion's growl, and he whimpered, curling in on himself. "A-Anan." He was still crying, and still shaking, and as Xeiga mentioned his mother, he cried harder. "She just dropped dead! A-And Kenosi died... and... and he killed Tima..." Seeing his father stand over his idol, roaring victoriously, as if it was something to be proud of... the young leopon closed his eyes tightly against the image, continuing on with his sobbing.

Ammit looked at the hyena, giving him a respectful dip of the head. "I'm not here to harm either of you," she replied, giving them both kind smiles. At the hyena's words, however, Ammit frowned, her ears falling back a bit. "Oh dear," she sighed, looking at the bawling leopon.
Cautiously, she approached further, sitting down in front of the crying male. "Hey now, it's okay. I'll stay here with you, and I won't let Ashur hurt you," she said, turning to look at the Sunbaked king. "Something big is happening in Clapperclaw. You might want to check on it. I'll stay here with Anan here and make sure he'll be okay," she said, her expression worried.

Ashur's ears immediately perked up at the mention of Tima. He was dead? Who had killed him? Somehow it didn't occur to him that Alibaster had been the one to kill him. Still, either way, Ashur definitely wanted to check this out. However, when Ammit told him to go alone while she stayed with Anan, he frowned. It completely went against his rule of 'never go alone.' Especially considering Clapperclaw may now once again be enemy territory. Still, it was obvious Ammit wasn't leaving Anan, and Anan wasn't going anywhere. Sighing, he nodded. "Very well." Perhaps he could just sneak around and get in undetected and see what was going on before he made his first move. Rolling his shoulders, he nodded to Ammit. "Keep safe. I'll be back soon."
He then turned and started walking into Clapperclaw lands, tense and worried about what he might find.

Ammit watched Ashur leave, but then felt torn between her decision. What if something happened to Ashur? What if something happened to Anan if she decided to go after Ashur? Ammit was torn, but she had an idea. "Wait here," she said, running off to find the food she scented earlier.
She trotted away, following the scent trail of another animal for a few moments. Her eyes fell on a partially eaten buffalo, and the lioness tore a particularly large chunk off and carried it back to the others. Carefully setting it down, Ammit grinned to the two.
"I'll return shortly as well. Both of you should eat. I will return with Ashur in a little while, alright? Stay alert," she instructed, giving them a quick smile. She needed to follow Ashur, the thought of him being attacked by the Clapperclaw worried her. So with that final thought, Ammit turned, running towards Lake Keto.

Alibaster had safely escaped Ashur's claws, moving through the trees towards his old home in leopard grove. He was looking for Anan, and soon enough, he found him. The boy was crying on the forest floor. The leopon descended from the trees, stepping into view. "Anan, thank god I found you," he said, dipping his head. "Tau betrayed me, and Ashur showed up to interfere, I'm so sorry about what happened."

Anan had whimpered when Ammit and Ashur left, before going back to curling in on himself and shaking. But then suddenly his father appeared, and the poor boy was absolutely terrified, thinking his father had come back to punish him for telling the strange lions about what had happened. But then he heard his father's words, and he couldn't help but glare. "Like you betrayed Tima?" He turned his back toward Alibaster, facing the tree he was pressed up against, still crying. "You're not sorry."

"I issued him a challenge, Anan," Alibaster said quietly, sitting down. "All leaders are required to accept challenges to their leadership, and those battles don't have to end in death. Had he surrendered, I would've let him live. I am sorry to have killed him, but he let three animals die."
"Either way, Ashur has taken the pride for now. Your siblings, and what's left of everyone else, are under his control for the time being," he murmured. "I can't fight like this. I'll be biding my time until I can reclaim our home. I have made mistakes, but I want to mend things. Will you stand by me? I can't force you, but I hope you can forgive me."

Anan growled, digging his claws into the tree bark. "And did Tau not challenge you?" He didn't know what had happened, obviously, but he was going with the assumption that Tau had just challenged him like Alibaster had Tima. But then as Alibaster went on, Anan couldn't help but laugh. "So you kill Tima and then just leave? You killed him for nothing. Now they're without a king." He glared at his father, before turning back to the tree and burying his face against it, as if he were a cub again and it was one of his parents. "Now leave me alone."

Alibaster sighed, ears flattened. "Tau did challenge me, and I won our battle. Had Ashur not come and threatened my life, I wouldn't have left. And I won't be staying away for long, I needed to get away from him," he turned away, leaping up a tree. "I'll leave, Anan. I'm sorry I hurt you."

As always, Ashur found Ammit's displays of affection weird, but like usual, he didn't comment, and just continued running. He narrowly missed running into Alibaster and Anan, and instead just headed straight for the river. Carefully, he waded into the water, then paddled off to the opposite shore.

From the trees, Alibaster spotted a flash of brown fur, and his heart sped. Had Ashur simply left? If that was the case, he would go home and heal there. The leopon began moving through the trees, heading back towards Softwood.

Musoke continued his search, and as he came into the grove, he breathed in deeply. The smell of leopards was strong here. Smiling to himself, he continued on, hoping that maybe, just maybe, he'd find a female. And hopefully she wouldn't run away at the very sight of him this time.

Ayomide heard distant roars once she had woken up, but she wouldn't go after it. She wouldn't want to get in trouble again with Clapperclaw, she wasn't supposed to trespass anyway. She laid in her tree, listening to distant voices, the rustling of the underbrush and the leaves moving.

Khalfani walked slowly into the Grove, his head low and his steps heavy. This was the place where he had been born, yet he hardly felt at home here. The delta was home, and yet he felt as if he didn't belong there, either. Those carefree days, cuddling with his mother, were over now. Now he had to find a new home.
Eventually he came to a river, where he paused, hesitating. It seemed strong. Should he risk it? Then again, did it matter? Sighing, he waded into the river and began paddling, kicking his legs, trying to get across. There was no doubt that he would return to his mother, someday, but for now, he just wanted to be alone, and put as much space between himself and his old life as possible.
