Christabel looked between Kojo and Nneka, but before she could open her muzzle to say anything further, she was ordered to keep an eye on the pup and to follow them. Not wanting to upset the older female she did as she was told.

Nneka grunted and nodded a little, happy to see that FINALLY somebody was listening to her. She started walking toward Painted Army territory, but then, before they could get too close, she caught the scent of... something. Food. "Hang on." She changed direction, heading toward the smell. It smelled rather old, but not yet rotten, and she couldn't help but drool, just a little, as she followed after it. Ofure may have been carrying a lion, but it would be wise to save that for their actual territory.
Soon enough, she finally found the source. An old, partially eaten buffalo carcass. Perfect. "Eat up. We're going to save the lion for home." She dug into the carcass then, tearing into the meat and swallowing it down in big gulps.

Ofure smiled kindly at Christabel as she said her name. She looked back at the lion and tried, once again to pick it up. tOe8Ni0O (6+3=9 To Gather) Finally, the teen got the food and tried to follow them (7+3=10 To Gather)ยท

Shortly after Nneka caught the scent so did Christabel. Her nose twitched and her tail swayed gently as she trotted after her new leader.
Upon coming across the carcass, and being given permission to eat, Christabel practically dove head first into the meat. She ripped, tore, and tugged at the flesh. With each chunk of meat that came off blood spilled from the wounds and splashed across the ground. Her tongue lashed across her chops to lap up the wonderful maroon liquid before repeating the process of devouring her share of the deceased.

Ofure honestly would of thought that it would of been better to save the precious meat, but Nneka was Alpha and her daughter couldn't order her around....She watched her pack mates feed and looked at the pup. She looked back to where the hyena was supposed to be.
She started heading off to god knows where, but they couldn't stay in the Crossroads. There was probably more land ahead of the Painted Army territory if they cut through Clapperclaw since, well she couldn't swim with meat on her back.

Zuberi desperately wanted to run back to his comfort-bringer, Sethos. He was surrounded by death-bringers, and it was quite terrifying. But at the same time, the scent of the young female death-bringers was intoxicating. He cowered, looking back the way they came and then to the dogs several times. Eventually, his hormonal instinct won out, and he carefully slunk around the group, taking in each individual's scent. Ofure was his age, and also just beginning to show signs of sexual maturity, so of course her scent was strongest and the most tempting. But he held back, fearful of her still. She also carried the scent of the growl-death, as he had labeled Nneka, so he was wary.
Then there was Christabell. She seemed quite...different. Calmer, and her pelt was far lighter than the other death-bringers. Kojo was the newest to him. he had never met another male of his species, aside from, very briefly, his brothers. He wanted to get closer, as the difference in scent lessened his fear slightly, but he had also growled at Comfort-Bringer. Of course then he had growled at growl-death, so Zuberi was just pretty confused when it came to him.
Finally he decided to just keep near the new...bringer? He wasn't sure what to label her yet. But she hadn't shown any signs of aggression, and her aura was just...calming. Not to mention he was a little delirious from the scent of her. Sweet-Bringer, he decided. That was her name. He sat about a foot behind her, tense and half-crouched as he watched his surroundings. The other dogs were eating, but he had not understood the orders, and he didn't want to get near anyone yet.

Kojo quickly obeyed his alpha's orders, his stomach showing no protest to the command. His jaws sank hungrily into the carcass, pulling chunks of flesh off the bone. He swallowed each bite easily, cleaning the bones and snapping a few pieces off to chew on as the others finished their meals.
His eyes flicked to Zuberi, who was still very curious about everything. He didn't seem as frightened, but Kojo didn't want to chance scaring him again. "Zuberi, come eat. It will make you strong! I won't harm you, I promise. You don't have to eat if you don't want to, of course," he said calmly, smiling gently at the pup.

Kojo and Christabel had eaten, and that was good enough for Nneka. If they were going to be a pack again, they'd have to hunt eventually, anyway, so Ofure and Zuberi could eat then. And if not, well, there was the lion. Satisfied now, she turned and looked toward home, only to notice Ofure leaving. She raised a brow, but assumed maybe she was just going ahead of them back toward the delta. It didn't occur to her that the girl might be going AROUND the delta. So she let that go.
With Ofure out of sight, she turned to the remaining three. "Alright, let's go. We're going home." She started walking that way, eager to finally be back in her own den again. She hadn't realized just how much she would miss her swampy homeland.
And luckily, it didn't take long for them to get there. As they reached the swampy border, Nneka looked out, and sighed. "We're going to have to swim." But as she looked back, she realized that the three of them would likely have a VERY hard time swimming. She herself would have a difficult enough time as it was. Zuberi especially would hardly make it, and with a sigh, she spoke to him, "Zuberi, let me carry you across. Can't have you drowning."

Zuberi bared his teeth as Kojo spoke to him, only able to comprehend his own name. Language still flew right over his head, no word had been repeated often enough for his damaged mind to grasp its meaning yet, though he had his own...thought-words, you could call them. It was an odd way of thinking, to be sure. Rather than actually using the word 'comfort' in his mind when referring to Sethos, he used the memory of experienced emotion as a kind of name.
When the group began to move, he skittered along behind them, staying a few feet behind Sweet-Bringer and as far away from Growl-Death as possible. When she spoke his name, he bared his teeth, throat still closed from the earlier altercation. The young male shrank back, hackles raised and ears pinned. His lips were pulled completely back, showing his sharp white teeth and the whites of his eyes. He shifted away, trying to make her leave him alone.

Having FINALLY gotten across the river, Anan pulled himself to shore, panting and feeling very sore. Groaning, he shook out his scruffy mane, then walked further into the grove. He didn't even bother trying to shake himself as he went further into the jungle, heading back toward Clapperclaw territory.

"Do you mind if I try talking to him?" Christabel had stepped forward a few steps towards Zuberi, glancing at Nneka. She'd noticed that the young dog had taken a liking to her and wanted to be helpful in some way.

Nneka bit back a growl at Zuberi. She was trying to help him. He'd have a hell of a time getting across on his own, and her, being the strongest of them all, was offering to carry him across, and he was being a bitch about. Why did no one in this pack listen to her!? They were near extinct because Creed had never once listened to her advice, and now, even still, they refused to obey her. This idiot of a pup was going to get himself drowned because NOBODY listened to her, and it was beyond frustrating.
As the new female spoke, Nneka turned her frustrated glance on her, eyes narrowed. "Fine. You'll speak to him here, where I can see you both."

Christabel gave an acknowledging nod, then turned her gaze to Zuberi. She sat down a few feet in front of him so as not to frighten him any more than he already was. "Hey. Do you want me to carry you across?" She asked softly, a warm smile crossing her muzzle to show him she meant him no harm.

Zuberi was quite honestly terrified. Suddenly everyone's attention was on him, Growl-Death and Sweet-Bringer were both looking at him! And Growl-Death didn't look any friendlier than before, to say the least. Sweet-bringer's voice was just as lovely as her scent, though, and he found himself staring at her. His lips slowly lowered, but he was still tense and shaking, eyes wide.
He had caught on that the sounds they were making were understandable to other dogs, but not to him. Both of them had said 'carry', and he recognized the sound the second time, but there was no meaning in the word. His eyes simply darted between Growl-Death and Sweet-Bringer, head tilted to the side in absolute confusion.

Luckily, Ofure had waited for them near the Painted Army borders before thinking that they'd go around. But instead, they were talking about caring the pup across the delta. She looked to both of them, then she slowly crouched down.
She carefully spoke, since this pup didn't seem to be able to speak at the moment, "We" She pointed a paw towards her and Christabel since it seemed the pup wasn't exactly comfortable with her mother. "Carry you across the water" she then pointed her paw towards the water.
