Okay, so at this point the war isn't looking much like a war, but I had an idea.
So what if another territory comes into play, like south of the Painted Army. Some sort of marshy forest or something. Because everything was well before, no one felt the need to expand and enter these areas.
Ashur is pretty much dominating right now, so some animals choose to flee ((Like Creed and Nneka, maybe Alibaster and Ambergris)) The Sunbaked basically conquer the land and rule proudly.
Meanwhile the animals that have fled are gathering strength in the safety of the swampy woods, raising their young to have a hatred for the pride that stole their homelands. This could cause a lot of drama later on, and lead to the creation of more characters, since the Sunbaked would likely kill a lot of solitary animals to claim the crossroads.
The Barrens clan might still be free, but they might also be like the equivalent of slaves or something like that. Maybe given to lions when they're born and brainwashed to adore their master? Idk, up to Ashur I guess.
But then later there's this big rebellion, the Painted Army and others who fled returning in force to re-claim their homeland. Alibaster and Ambergris could like take control of Sunbaked, if they choose to leave as well.
That'd be one hell of a war.
Just let me make clear none of the other animals would know about this area or that the others had fled there, the wind wouldn't carry scent that far and they have no reason to explore there. One danger, to ensure it's not just a complete haven, is sickness from parasites ((Maybe a lot of sickly pups/cubs born)) and crocodiles. They'd have to adapt to hunting crocs to survive, since nothing else would risk being there really. Maybe lions would fish?
Of course none of this is possible unless the Admin agrees, but I figured I'd pitch the idea for everyone to read :33

I have considered adding in more territories and have indeed also considered what would beyond the points of the current map but I also have to consider why the ambitious land-owners like the Sunbaked wouldn't have moved forward. Namely that there would be another pride of lions or hyenas or dogs (or other animal) that prevented them from having even more land than they do right now. (where as to the south of the barrens could very easily be unclaimed land due to no one going through the endless wasteland before since they assumed it was, well, ENDLESS)
The plan hinges quite a bit on there being a safe zone. In something like a swamp. When in reality there /is/ a swamp; the Painted Army already owns it. Namely the Morass. And Ashur is just as capable of getting into the morass as he would be into any new refuge they make.
When it comes down to it however, I don't want things to be too spacious so I'm not sure I'd make new map additions unless there were more people/characters on the forum :T

Hm hm hm. I think a lot of this is hinging on the idea that Sunbaked and the Barrens will win the war, or that every character who opposes them will be wiped out. I think that's looking too far into the future. There's still an element of uncertainty in this game when it comes to who will live and who will die. Sunbaked may be strong now, but the Clapperclaws are growing stronger as well. And there are plenty of Crossroads characters who could still fight on either side.
The idea is great, I just think it leaves a lot of characters out of the picture. Like it's overplanning. What if Sunbaked loses? What if certain members of the alliance choose to leave? What if one faction falls and someone else takes over? What if Mwamba decides to kill EVERY predator??
So yeah there's just a lot up in the air right now, and the war hasn't really even started. I'm more go with the flow; I want to see how the characters and relationships develop organically. To me, planning is about smaller things, not these massive story arcs, no matter how epic they may be.
Just throwing in my 2 cents. C:

^^ What Kunguru said. There are a lot of animals still on the Painted Army's side despite them not being dogs. Such as all the Clapperclaws and also Ambergris (possibly her cubs too). Not to mention the possibility of Izkinder (though this is completely a guess on my part) what with Izkinder being a mercenary-type and also having enemies in the hyenas.
However whenever we do start getting to the point of new map areas, I'll likely make a poll to decide what new faction(s) may be there. Because I'd definitely want a new faction holding the land. Especially if we're going North opposed to South for new land.

I demand twerking monkeys. (Baboons.) XD
Though no, really. I think baboons would be a very neat and unique addition to the game. They wouldn't be like any other animal we've had so far. But I suppose we'll get to that later, if we ever DO get to that point. XD

Baboons are indeed an option. They would fit the scenery found on the northern lands. I can also see you guys actually wanting to roleplay baboons xD The other choices would be like... I don't know, crocodiles? It could be a monkey paradise up there in which case Mandrills and Drills would be an option. But if I did that then I'd reaally have to come up with ideas with how other animals would have their diets work. Because all of these monkeys are omnivores and aren't exactly zebra-killers.
I think getting places would be made a bit harder too, which would also help explain things. Maybe what separates the north lands from the southern lands (southern being where we are) is a giant river in which you guys would have to make ability rolls several times to get across. Failure resulting in being swept back to the side you came from, starting all over again and taking like 5 damage. OF course this would also mean that hydrophobics like Raena could never ever get to the northern lands :T I'm happy I'm not on a deadline for making new land ideas xD;

Hrm.... perhaps for omnivores, you could make it like... so that there's only a set amount of food in each area every day, so the different kinds of monkeys would have to fight for it? I don't know. XD
And that could be a very interesting idea, with the river! It kinda makes me think of WoW, where you have to level up to get to each new area. XD But yeah, that would be a huge downside for hydrophobics.

xD this is very interesting, it's a great way to risk one of your unwanted characters and say 'I just really wanted to see the other side though .n.'

That or there'd be a plant NPC like there's a Carrion NPC.... and then an insect one too. The challenge being that plants and insects (like termite mounds) can't be moved. That said, that's not really a fair challenge while the lions get kicked in the face by zebras if they bring too few friends along. But it also can't be scarce like Carrion is because then it wouldn't support the amount of monkeys there would be in a faction... There'd be some need of risk and/or some form of dice roll.
It would certainly be nice to have that sense of separation that something like WoW gives the feeling of. Maybe something similar would happen when you cross from the endless wasteland into the lands south of where we are. Except you'd be facing it with strength stats instead of ability stats. Or something. That way you're not moving a great distance willy-nilly.. I mean to the northern lands I suppose it could be some other obstacle, like a mountain or human farmlands where if you make failing rolls you're hit for damage. *shrugs* The river is the easiest idea to see and believe and of course drown your unwanted characters in >o< hrm. EH =w= oh well, something to think harder on later (though of course if you guys ever have brainstorms on that shoot them my way and I'll collect them).
ICreed and Nneka will have to find solitude with the current lands. Assuming there's no meta-gaming done, I would suggest going to lands where 1. No one goes and 2. the wind is in your advantage because technically the wind will currently blow your smell straight from the Crossroads into the Barrens, this won't happen in places like the Ashands or Endless Wasteland.

What if there was an area like human farmlands, maybe like an orchard or something near where the monkeys live that is their main source of fruits, but there are animals like dogs guarding it? so they'd have to do ability rolls for stealth, and if it gets lower than say seven a few dogs would be attracted that they have to fight off?
