Azikiwe looked at Musoke oddly. He looked just about ready to tell Musoke to shut up when Abrihet chimed in. He didn't like to think of her dying right now and then being eaten. But upon thinking about it if she DID die he'd much rather this Musoke fellow eat her than Ashur, Jasiri or any of the lions from his own pride. That would be nightmare fuel for sure. At least Abrihet didn't have any plans on dying yet. As she said, she was a fighter. He gave a small smile and nuzzled her in return. He relaxed when he licked her on the cheek.
"It's just a flu anyhow." Azikiwe said, moreso trying to keep himself relaxed than to act like he was a know-it-all on sable sicknesses. He was very much not a veterinarian but damn if he didn't wish he was.

Musoke smiled brightly when the sable said he could eat her once she died. Which, despite hers and the lion's words, he had no doubt that it was going to happen. Much less eager to leave now, he laid down, smiling at the two kindly. The sun was rising, burning his pelt, which wasn't helped by the fact that his odd coat pattern gave him a lot more darker fur than a normal leopard, which just made the heat worse. But he tried to ignore it, stretching out his legs. "Should find cover. Very hot. Won't help."

Musoke hadn't seen it coming. Didn't see any reason for it. But the lion had eventually fallen silent, and Musoke's ears perked up curiously, until finally he noticed he wasn't breathing. "Oh. Told you. Heat bad." He frowned awkwardly, moving closer and sniffing at him. The sable, who he was still convinced was dying, had outlived the lion who had seemed perfectly healthy a few minutes ago. "Sorry for loss. ... I eat him?" Well he certainly didn't allow much time to grieve.

Abrihet sat up, eyes wide as she looked at the still form of Azikiwe beside her. He...he was dead? No, he couldn't be dead, she was the sick one, not him! "Zeke, come on, get up," she urged, nudging him gently. When he failed to stir she sank back, closing her eyes as tears dribbled down her snout. At Musoke's question, she glared, pulling her lips back. "No!"
Sighing, she stood, shaking her head. "No, not yet. I need to tell his pride, you can have his body later," she bowed her head, carefully maneuvering her horns in order to scoop up the dead male, letting him tumble down her neck and settle across her shoulders. "If I don't come back, assume that they've killed me. I wouldn't be surprised, since I am prey, and sickly prey at that. But they dump bodies in the crossroads. Look for food there."

Musoke frowned, backing up at her aggression. "Oh. ... Why? You give lions both bodies but no me?" He pouted a little. He would have much preferred being able to take both the lion and the sickly sable! But he wouldn't fight with her. She said that there should be bodies in the Crossroads, and he figured if he could get an easier meal that way, then he would. "Bye, Abrihet." So he started heading east, hoping to find food that way.

Abrihet snorted, beginning her trek towards the Watch. The scent of lion was strong and led her towards their den. Oh, how she had dreamed of this. Though she was sick, her body was still strong, and she could fight well. But if the lions chose to attack her, she would not try to gore them, nor would she kick out. She would die surrounded by the most beautiful animals on the savanna.

The scent marks of Sunbaked filled Kazimir's nose, and he grinned to himself. This territory was much more suitable for him, grass and earth rather than ash. He took a long drink from a nearby lake, preparing himself. It had been a long time since he had spoken to other lions, and this would likely be a tense meeting. After all, having a rogue come traipsing onto your territory was almost always bad news.
Finally, he sat down, tilted his head back, and roared as loudly as he could.
wlNSV8hW ((Ability to intimidate whoever hears I guess, just because I want to roll x33 4 + 5 = 9))
With that done he decided to try and make himself presentable, grooming his wildly curly mane. He was nervous, to say the least. If this went badly, and the king was as powerful as they said, he could come out of it missing a few more toes. Or his life. After a while he simply sat up, looking around. There was no hope for tidying his unruly mess of a mane, anyways.

Ashur trotted toward the Watering Holes, ready to fight, though he was hoping it was just another lioness here to join the pride. But nope, it was a male, and he snarled, automatically assuming it was a challenger. And he was NOT in the mood for challengers right now, especially considering he was injured. And while normally Ashur was very traditional and would accept challenges, considering he was injured and had a newborn son in the den, if this male was here to fight him for the pride, Ashur would have no problem with Ammit joining in the battle. "Hey! Clearly you're new around here. Predators who step foot on my territory usually don't come out alive."

Kazimir stayed seated, watching as the large male who must be Ashur came towards him, a lioness at his side. He dipped his head, a little self-conscious about the white stripe through his black mane. "Does that mean you let herbivores live?" he asked, unable to stop himself. He coughed a little awkwardly, smiling. It looked a little odd, since he had about five scars on his muzzle and lips, but hey, he was trying.
"Sorry, but yes, I am new here. I'm seeking a pride to join, as a subordinate," he found the term slightly distasteful. Honestly, he would prefer to be king himself, but of course he was in no position to lead at the moment. He was healthy and strong, but so unaccustomed to living in the wild. He was unsure whether or not to tell the kind where he came from, but decided that could wait.

Ammit followed Ashur closely, baring her teeth as she noticed the new male. Ashur definitely didn't seem friendly, and Ammit wasn't feeling too keen on letting a new male onto their territory; not while she had a newborn in the den. She snarled at the new male. "We don't have subordinates," she retorted, her teeth still bared.

Ashur was looking over the male carefully, taking notice of all of his scars. But then the rogue spoke again, and Ashur growled lowly. "And what makes you think I'd let you join my pride?" He started pacing back and forth, always keeping his eyes on the male, growling lowly. "I only let in males that have proven themselves worthy of my trust. Right now, all I see in front of me is some strange lion that I don't know that could be a danger to my family."

"I apologize, miss," he said, dipping his head to Ammit. "Am I correct in assuming you are the queen of your pride? It is my honor to meet both of you. I understand your mistrust, of course. Rogues like myself are always dangerous," he murmured, keeping his head slightly bowed.
"If at all possible, I ask for the chance to earn your trust. I haven't been part of a pride in years, it would be my honor to serve under a king once again. If you're certain you don't want me around, though, I will leave without a fight."

Ammit continued to bare her teeth at this new male, and she let the comment of her being queen go over her head. It was a bit flattering, to be honest, but Ammit wasn't having it right now. "My king is right. We cannot trust an outside male unless he was to prove himself in some fashion," she growled, her tail swaying behind her as she stood. "There has been too much going on to allow another male into this pride," she said, her voice very low.

Ashur growled, continuing with his pacing. "And just how do you propose you gain my trust?" Briefly he remembered Tima, and how he had brought him into the pride, even knowing that the other male had some ambitions to have a pride of his own. It hadn't been the smartest move of Ashur's part, but it had worked out well. For about a day, anyway, with Tima as the king. Of course that had been ruined by that damn leopon.
This lion here was outright asking to be a subordinate. And he looked rather beat up. Perhaps a sign of weakness? Either way, the lack of a tail and the missing toes did show a strong physical weakness. Without those body parts, no doubt his balance was off.
Thinking, Ashur sighed, ears pinned back. "If you are to come to our pride, you will not be permitted to come near the den. You will be required to stay on the outer perimeters of the Watch, and you will be under guard at all times." By another male, of course, just in case this male tried to seduce a lioness, or in case he was possibly the type of lion who would rape a female. He was thinking Azikiwe could watch him, but little did he know, the male was dead.
