Chione was currently on a journey, a journey to a land she had recently cursed. The cheetah had put a curse on the Clapperclaw's land a few days prior, and, if the news was true, it had worked. Many Clapperclaw had died, and the cheetah was overjoyed with the results. So overjoyed was Chione that she had traveled this far to see the damage she did from her little experiment. Little did the delusional female know, the dead in Clapperclaw died of natural causes, but that didn't stop her from believing her experiment worked! Oh, now Sutekh would really be proud of her! She could now put curses on all who offended him! Chione trotted along excitedly, eyes wide as she crossed into Lake Keto.

Feeling excited now that she was out of Softwood, the leopardess kept her pace up and entered Lake Keto. However, an odd scent crossed her path, one that she couldn't trust. Something else was here, and it didn't seem too friendly. It smelled of death, but in truth, the scent was that of a cheetah. Having had previous experience with cheetahs, Baneth growled, flattening her ears against her skull.
"Quiet, everyone. There's a cheetah in here somewhere, and it may not be friendly," warned the mother, who was now backing protectively against her family. Her eyes finally caught sight of the intruder; a lithe, dark-pelted cheetah. Despite not seeing a cheetah for what seemed like years, Baneth was not interested in the sight, but rather worried.
She stared on blankly at the cheetah as it trotted by, silently hoping it would intrude on the Clapperclaw and kill Abeni. She quickly shut her eyes, shaking her head slightly. "No, no, I musn't think like that. Baneth let out a low, threatening growl, hoping to scare the cheetah away from them and into Softwood.

Ah, now her journey was coming to an end! She was finally reaching the Clapperclaw borders, the cheetah licking her lips at the thought of all of the carcasses she could steal. Her thoughts were quickly yanked from her mind, however, when a growl filled the air. Chione's ears shot upwards, her lip curling into a snarl. Her eyes darted around in an effort to find the source, when they fell on a dark form, low in the grass.
A black leopardess, who was being closely followed by a posse of assorted... animals. What on earth were they? Lions or leopards? Chione didn't know, nor did she care for these freaks of nature. "Many misfortunes brought onto Clapperclaw, yes?" she asked, smirking through her fangs. "Deaths? Sutekh needs carcasses," she said, flicking her tail and stiffening her muscles.

The cheetah was speaking now, and by the looks of her, she wanted a challenge. She spoke of the "misfortunes" brought onto the pride, and it bothered Baneth for some reason. How did she know? Had she been spying on them? The cat then brought up deaths, and Baneth stepped forward, gently setting Tarik's tiny body on the ground. Was the cheetah somehow responsible for her son's death? Had she snuck into the territory and done something?
Anger surged through her body, her teeth bared as she stepped forward. "How do you know? Did you do this?!" she growled, looking to Tarik. At the mention of a "Sutekh", she snarled even further. "Did Sutekh do this?!" she yelled, not even knowing who or what Sutekh was.

Chione chuckled darkly as the leopardess threw her accusations everywhere. She technically had done this, though not directly. The cheetah fully believed she was responsible, but in fact, it had just been coincidence. But, for now, Chione felt like bragging, and maybe bringing an extra carcass to Sutekh.
"No, no, not Sutekh. I did this. Curse on the Clapperclaw. Carcasses, yes?" she said, raising a brow as she looked at the leopardess. "Sutekh powerful deity. Sutekh demands carcasses. Must feed or else Sutekh will cause Chione's death," she explained, stepped back a few paces. The leopardess was getting aggressive now, and Chione was ready to bolt for the border.

Baneth heard the unbelievable answer from the cheetah, who revealed that she had "cursed" the Clapperclaw. Despite not buying into it, she felt as though she found the animal responsible for Tarik's death, and her claws unsheathed. Sutekh was then explained as a deity, another frustrating thing that Baneth couldn't understand, and the leopardess stepped boldly forward.
"You killed my son and ruined my family!" she roared, not caring to buy into the whole curse-concept. At this point, Baneth had enough built-up anguish and pain that she just wanted to sink her claws into something. And here was something to attack, and someone who at least was partly responsible for Tarik's death!
Snarling, she raced forward, aiming a clawed paw at the cheetah's face.

Chione chuckled at the leopardess' roars, knowing that now the black cat understood. Finally, some recognition for her work! Chione opened her mouth to speak again, but the leopardess was lunging forward, aiming a smack at her face. She shrieked, attempting to get out of the way as quickly as possible.

She was hit with a hard smack across the face, the claws ripping into her flesh. She decided then to bolt for the border, running back to Leopard Grove, where she had originally came from. Little did she know, Baneth would likely head that direction as well, but Chione would be able to outrun her. The cheetah sprinted, bleeding, to the border, quickly crossing back and heading for Tallhair.

Khalfani didn't know what had happened. There was a cheetah, and a fight, and the mention of a 'Sutekh,' but as much as the leopard wanted to rush to his mother's aid and kill the cheetah who had supposedly caused Tarik's death, Khalfani simply couldn't do it. Groaning, he limped over to his mother's side as the cheetah ran off, looking to his mother. "Mom...?" He gently nuzzled her, trying to be comforting. "That cheetah was insane. Let's just go."

Adeleke had been completely caught off guard by the attack and was too stunned to even call out to motivate her mother, like she usually did. Instead, though, once the cheetah was gone she bounded forward to nuzzle her mother's shoulder, frowning. She didn't know what to say, and simply tried to comfort her mother in silence while her older brother tried to speak to her.

Baneth let out a snarl as the odd cheetah scurried away for its life, the leopardess sitting down and gritting her teeth. Her chest heaved, lungs filling with air before she noticed her family gathering around her. Khalfani's nuzzle comforted the tired mother, who was just as confused as he was. Who exactly was this cheetah, and why had she said the things she did? There wasn't any way that she could have been responsible for her son's death... was there?
Adeleke nuzzled her as well, and Baneth let out a tired sigh. "I'm not sure who that was and why she spoke of... whatever she said. We need to get out of here, quickly."

Desta still clung to Musoke, watching in confusion as a crazy cheetah appeared and her mother scared it away like it was some pest crawling through her fur. The spotted creature spoke of something called a 'curse'. What was a curse anyway?
She pondered on it, whatever it was, it made mommy mad. Then again, mommy was always mad nowadays.

Khalfani frowned and nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Perhaps we should go east?" He glanced over that way with a frown. He couldn't recall anyone ever going that way, and it seemed like a good idea, anyway. He could only imagine it was home to more leopard territory, and while Tau might not appreciate that, Khalfani figured he could just deal with it.
Nuzzling his mother once more, he stepped ahead and faced that way, tail twitching. "Come on, Mom. We'll find some place to go, and if Tau doesn't find us soon after, I'll go out searching."

Nuru was following behind a little slowly, feeling a little ill. Her stomach had never been kind to her, and while she was keeping her food down it wasn't exactly fun. Sollux trailed behind her, grumpy as ever. He had seemed relatively fine earlier, but his moods just kept flipping. Something always triggered the swings, but it wasn't natural for an animals attitude to shift so rapidly. She was a little worried for her son.
Regardless, they needed to focus on the move for now. Life in a lion pride certainly hadn't suited either her or Khalfani, and she was eager to get away from all the commotion. Despite loving Baneth and the cubs, she hoped that her own family would be able to break away and find their own place in the world soon enough. Not permanently, of course; they'd visit frequently she was sure.
