Blossom followed Kabili closely, wondering what a "lake" was. She trotted up the hill after the small hyena, her heart racing at the thought of the unknown. That's when the lake came into view. It was water! So much water! Blossom let out an exhilarated trumpet as she walked into the shallow waters, her feet sinking slightly in the mud.
"It's w-water!" she trumpeted, a smile wide on her face. She cautiously dipped her trunk to the surface, gingerly sucking in a bit of water before bringing it to her mouth. Small plants dotted the shore, and the female reached down and grasped a trunkful of leaves, pulling them to her mouth as well.
"No one said it was water!" she squeaked, her voice excited, "This is amazing! I-I've never seen so much water!"

Lilly had heard some loud splashing from the distance and curiosity took over the pup. Unfortunately, this would lead to some frightened yelps from the pup as she saw one of the hyenas plunge into the water and get washed to shore. He didn't look healthy....or okay. He didn't look like he was breathing in fact!
Lily backed away slowly before whipping around and rushing back to the cave, screaming "Help, Help!"

Raena looked up at the yelping, watching the pup with narrowed eyes. She wasn't sure where she had come from, but she didn't want to get involved with an orphaned pup again. Of course, that didn't mean she wouldn't. "What's wrong, little one?" She asked, motherly concern filling her voice.

Lily looked to the female hyena desperately "O-One of the hyenas, He-He drowned!!" she squealed with panic, looking from the hyena back to the lake. "I-I saw him go under the water and th-then when he came back up it didn't look like he was breathing!"

Blossom was enjoying herself in the water, timidly splashing about, when a grim silence fell over the area. When the female looked up, Kabili was nowhere to be found. "K-Kabili..?" she murmured, eyes darting about. Bubbles floated up from a deeper end of the lake, and Blossom's heart broke. "Kabili!" she trumpeted, the female rushing forward. The water came up to her chest, and her trunk struck the water's surface, desperately searching for Kabili.
The bubbles soon stopped, and Blossom searched frantically before she saw his body wash up on shore. "O-oh... oh no... Kabili, no!" she cried, pulling the soaked and unresponsive hyena away from the lake. She hurried further away from the shore, gently setting down the body. "Kabili! Y-y-you can't b-be... no," she whimpered, her lip quivering. The trembling spread to the rest of her body, the elephant shrinking down. "No..." she whispered.
Not knowing what else to do, tears poured from her eyes again. What would she tell the other hyenas? They'd think she killed him! No, no! They couldn't do that! She wouldn't hurt a fly! Blossom sobbed loudly, both out of grief and worry. The female collapsed onto her side next to Kabili. He was the only one to show her kindness, and he brought her momentary happiness when he introduced her to the first lake she'd ever seen.

Yanni had been staring into her thoughts when she heard a grumble in her stomach. She went to go eat from the elephant carcass, it was satisfying to not eat lioness meat. The female hyena had gone to the den to check on her son and saw him peacefully sleeping. Unfortunately for the mother, she didn't see that he wasn't breathing and gently nudged him hoping to take him around the territory.
As the pup didn't wake up, she then begun to notice that his stomach was moving up and down to indicate that he was breathing. Her ears pulled back, staring at the pup in disbelief before letting out a shriek "Nakato! Please no, please don't be gone there's so much to do!" she cried, collapsing next to the pup, curling around him. "There's so much to do...."

Blossom laid next to Kabili's soaked body, still crying. The elephant felt all hope wash from her body as she laid there next to the corpse. Every creature she met had died. Everyone who showed her kindess; dead. She cried until her tears stopped, leaving her gasping for air.
She didn't know what else to do. Blossom was so scared to be friendly to anything, lest it die because of her again. She just didn't know what else to do. "Help!" she trumpeted, still lying limp on the ground. Maybe someone would come to Kabili's aid. Even though he was surely dead, maybe the hyenas would find her guilty of murder. Maybe they would end her life. At this point, Blossom thought it to be a good punishment. She had caused two deaths so far, all just from speaking to them.

Raena was moving immediately. The elephant's trumpeting struck alarm bells, and soon she was beside Blossom, staring at the body of Kabili. The stuttering, loyal male, who would rather jump into a hippo's mouth than let an ally be harmed. He was dead, just like that. "What happened?" she asked, feeling almost as hollow as she had when Yanni went missing.

Blossom's eyes grew wide at the sight of Raena, but seeing as the hyena showed no aggression, Blossom tried to stop her crying. "I-I-I don't know... w-we were in the l-lake and I turned a-around... and... bubbles... he d-drowned," she cried, her chest heaving with every breath. Blossom didn't know what to do. She felt as though it was her fault for Kabili's death, even though she did not directly do anything to him.

Raena sighed, ears layed back. This only served to reinforce her horrible fear of water, as well as strike a blow to the heart. "Thank you for alerting me, Blossom. I need to alert Ige of his death, you may come if you wish," she murmured. The queen turned away, heading off in the same direction as Ige had.

Lily saw the female hyena exchange some words with Blossom and she watched them, though the young pup couldn't hear what they were saying. As they started to head towards another area, she didn't want to be left alone, sure there was Yanni but still!
The hyena pup ran after them.

Abeni raced into the heartlands, completely unaware that she was in hyena territory. Regardless, there weren't many of them about, so she just continued on.

As Ige came to the Heartlands, she saw the elephant in the distance and growled in frustration. Kabili better not still be hanging out with her. He should be spending time with his family! And while normally she would avoid that damn elephant, right now she was very much tempted to give Kabili a piece of her mind, so she trotted that way, gently setting down Yejide as she neared the lake. "Kabili! Get your ass over here now!"
She could see him laying down near the lake, and she growled lowly, quickening her pace. The elephant looked upset about something, but Ige hardly paid any mind as she approached her mate. "Hey, dummy, you're sitting here lounging around with some elephant, while I'm out there trying to train our pups. Get off your ass!"
But then, as she finally came up to him, she realized he wasn't moving at it. No blinking eyes, no ear twitch, not even the rising and falling of his stomach to show that he was breathing. Eyes widened, she leaned down and nudged him. "Kabili?" No response. "Kabili, get up! Now!" She growled threateningly, but tears were forming in her eyes. She bit down on the back of his neck, dragging him a couple feet away from the water and shaking him a bit, desperately trying to get him to wake up. "Kabili, wake up! Kabili!"

Raena halted as Ige returned, waiting as the mother discovered her mate's death. She approached slowly, standing about half a foot away. "I'm sorry, Ige. I was just coming to tell you," she murmured. "He drowned; I'm so sorry." The queen was unsure what to do now, not being particularly close to Ige, but wanting to comfort her all the same.
