Kayode followed his mother, once again feeling a little down-trodden. Why was he the one always getting scolded? Yejide hardly did anything, but she was still Ige's favorite! The poor little male just didn't understand clan hierarchy yet, no one had explained it to him, and the only other pups around were Nakato and Lily. Nakato was also male, and lethargic like his sister, and Lily wasn't anyone's pup, so she was rather timid.
As they entered the Heartlands, his mother yelled for Kabili, and soon he and his sister were left confused and alone as she rushed over to him. Kayode slunk over hesitantly, tail tucked under him as he looked up at his mother. "M-mamma? Wha's goin' on? Is daddy okay?"

Lily hid behind the queen's leg, watching the other female hyena. She was calling the dead male 'Kabili'. So that was his name? Well, the pup wished she could of met him before he drowned. She was glad that Kayode and....well his sister were back now.
She shuffled behind the Queen's hind leg, hiding her face.

Yanni, finally done grieving over her son, got up. She felt so....so spent. She had spent her tears, that's for sure. First it was Carolina, then her daughter, and now her son....was she just not good enough around pups? No, she was good around pups!...At least she hoped.
The hyena got up, she supposed she'd have to tell her mother that her grandson was dead....She sighed and trotted outside. That was when the wails of grief struck her ears....Oh no. Looking around, she spotted pretty much what was left of the clan now. She slowly padded over, her son dangling in her jaws to see that...Kabili was dead. Her ears went back, eyes softening.
She spoke up, her voice cracking "M-Mother..." hoping to get Raena to turn around to see.

Ige couldn't believe it. She couldn't believe that her mate was dead, and she continued shaking his body desperately, even as the tears flowed down her cheeks. "Don't do this, Kabili. I didn't mean to be so mean you. Please. I love you." She had never said it before, at least not without a joking tone, and suddenly she felt very regretful. She should have told him. Maybe if she had, he might have been happier to spend time with her, and their children, and she would have been able to protect him from whatever had killed him. But it was too late now.
Dropping his body, she sat down, leaning over him and crying. She heard Kayode behind her, and it took her a good long while before she could speak, and when she did, it was barely above a whisper. "Yes... Yes, Daddy's fine, Kayode. He's just going to sleep, for a very long time. And... And I'm just sad that he isn't awake to see you and Yejide right now." She didn't know what else to say. She didn't want to tell them flat out that their father was dead. She was denying the fact herself, anyway. She just couldn't believe that her mate, her little dummy, could really be dead.
