As Abeni called the male over, he turned his head to glance at his sister. As she leaped up the tree and snatched Adanna out of his reach, his ears went back. He backed away before nodding "Sure, sister." he answered. As Adanna called for him, he smiled at her and just said "I'll be back soon little one"
He leaped down, muscles rippling underneath his thick pelt. He shook out his mane, looking around to gather all the bodies in one place. It wasn't that hard to locate them all, since they all smelled repulsive. He padded over to each one, though at Kikilo's body he sighed, closing his eyes for a moment before carrying her towards the pile at the edge of Softwood. Kikilo, Kenosi, Sayf, and an adolescent was there. He padded towards Lake Keto to go give himself a wash.

Baneth groaned as her lungs ceased to let her cry any longer, her sobs becoming mere gasps for air. Her ribs ached, her eyes slightly swollen from her crying. Tau spoke, and it somewhat calmed her. Tarik was the runt, and like most runts, he died because of his weakness. She found comfort in the fact that he would not struggle to live like many smaller cubs did. However, her anger was now directed towards the Clapperclaw, who had not only lost a cub, but now a lioness. Kikilo was dead, and she was the only remaining lioness who was carrying Tau's cubs. She could only wonder if her mate knew of her death.
Baneth stood on shaky, tired legs, turning to look at her deceased son. "The Clapperclaw are cursed. And if they are not, well, then they soon shall be," she growled, gritting her fangs. She lifted her son's corpse and carefully laid him on her back, and turned to Tau. Her voice was emotionless, though it hinted at her internal anger. "We are leaving. Now," she stated flatly, turning to walk towards the den's entrance.

Musoke returned about the time Baneth came from the den, and he sighed in relief. Abeni was already lecturing her cubs about something, and though his fur was still a bit damp from his swim, all that mattered was that the leopon's scent was gone from his fur. He went over to sit next to the other leopards, as well as Desta, as he waited for Baneth to approach. She had her dead cub on her back, and he could only assume that now they were going to leave. Looking down at Desta, he gently picked her up, and set her on his back. "Go now, I think. I carry you."

Tau continued to hold Baneth for the entire time she grieved, crying along with her silently. He was not aware of Kikilo's death, but he was bound to be upset when he found out, though right now his thoughts were completely on his mate and his dead son. As the leopardess got up, he did as well, saying nothing in response to the Clapperclaw being cursed, although he had to silently agree. There was so much death here. There was always a pile of bodies of their own, and by now dead pridemates had become the norm. He'd be relieved to be away from all of this soon. "I'll follow you, Love."
He followed her out of the den, eyes quickly landing on their gathered family (and Musoke). If he'd given himself a moment to look closely, he would have noticed Ambokile was missing, but as it was, he soon turned and saw Abeni already continuing on with her day, teaching his cubs. He frowned, wishing he could take his children with him. He didn't want them to stay in this cursed land. But he knew Abeni wouldn't go for it, and while what remained of Clapperclaw was outnumbered, he didn't want to fight anymore.
He then noticed the pile of bodies, and Kikilo was on it. His breath caught in his throat for a moment as he thought of his cubs in her belly, and he turned away. "Yes. We need to go right away."

Astennu watched as Ambokile turned tail and ran, but Astennu knew he wouldn't be able to catch him. His brother had always been faster than him, and it frustrated the growing male to no end. Their parents emerged from the den, both clearly exhausted from the ordeal. His mother had Tarik's tiny, limp body on her back, and Astennu felt his chest tighten. He sighed, his body shaking from the held-in emotions.
He simply looked at Nuru in confusion, but he knew what happened would have an effect on his family for a while. He walked to his father, who smelled of death (likely from Tarik's body), and he looked up at his father with teary eyes. By now, the cub had grown to two-thirds of Tau's size, and they were almost at eye level. "Dad, I... I'm sorry," he said, pressing his face into his father's shoulder.

Khalfani had just been sitting silently, staring sadly at the den. He wanted to be there for his mother, but he would give her and her mate a moment to grieve. He hadn't seen Ambokile run, trying to keep an eye on all of the cubs that were right by him, otherwise he might have gone after him despite his weakness, so when finally Baneth came out of the den, Khalfani stood up and limped over to her to nuzzle her. "I'm sorry, Mom."

Adeleke had been crying silently this whole time, holding Nephthys close to her and murmuring to her, saying how it was going to be okay, that soon they would go find a new home and everything would be fine. But when finally her parents came out of the den with her dead little brother on Baneth's back, she closed her eyes and turned away, unable to handle it. She pulled Nephthys closer to her, licking the top of her head as though she were trying to comfort her, though in reality, she was also trying to comfort herself.
But after taking a few deep breaths, she finally stood up. "Wait here, Nephy." She then turned and walked over to her parents, nuzzling both of them gently. "I love you, Mom. I love you, Dad." She didn't know what else to say. She could try and help her parents through their relationship problems, but she didn't know what to say in the face of death.
