Health: 85/85 Last Ate: Day 8
As Abrihet approached, she spotted Jasiri, horribly injured and heading towards her. "Jasiri!" She called, her voice cracking. "Jasiri! Something's happened!" She sped her pace, stopping a few feet from the rocks to bend down, coughing violently and hacking up more amber fluid. Breathing was torture, but she was a fighter. It certainly wouldn't take her down.

Jasiri was shocked to see the sable coming toward the Watch, thinking she must have gone insane. He glanced around, but it seemed no other pride members were around to see, so he finally looked back to her, head low. "What are you doing? You're going to get yourself killed!" But then he saw Azikiwe on her back, and saw that he wasn't moving. The maneless male froze and stared at him, eyes wide. "Is... is he alright...?" He could feel a cold, sinking feeling in his stomach, but he tried to deny it. Azikiwe was fine. He must have just passed out in the heat. He had to be fine...

"It doesn't matter, I'm going to die anyway," Abrihet said bitterly, sinking to her knees and rolling Azikiwe's body to the ground. She looked to Jasiri, tears running down her muzzle. "No, no....he's not alright, I," she paused, voice croaking. "I think he's dead. I don't know what happened, we were just talking, and I was resting my eyes and then he was just silent."

Asha frowned a bit at Kayin, feeling a bit sorry for her brother. He always was the friendliest, and she knew it had affected him when the kitten had been mean to him. Why was she staying with their family, anyways? She wasn't a lion! However, her thoughts drifted as Dnali called her children out, and Asha stumbled and fell out of the crevice. "Comin' Mama!" she giggled, wobbling over to her mother.

Jasiri didn't hear Abrihet's words. As soon as Azikiwe was on the ground, Jasiri practically thew himself on him, shaking him, and crying. "No, no, no! Azikiwe, wake up! Please! Azikiwe!" He buried his nose into the larger male's mane, crying and shaking. "Please don't go, Azikiwe. Come back. I love you. Please..." Of course he didn't know for sure if he really loved Azikiwe, but right now he certainly felt like he did. Curling up against Azikiwe's body, he continued sobbing, completely forgetting that Abrihet was even there.

Finally, they made it. The Watch was in sight, and Ashur slowed his pace, panting. It was horrible running in this heat!
Heading straight for the main den, he crawled inside then laid down so that Ammit could roll off of his back, then sat up. "There. Now our cubs will be born in safety." He smiled tiredly at her, then turned his gaze to her stomach, ready for the cubs to be born at any moment.

Ammit had napped the entire trip home, and was a bit surprised when she opened her eyes to see the Watch already. Ashur brought her inside the den, and Ammit settled herself down, curling up on her side. The pain was spreading everywhere now, but it was a constant, even pain. No contractions yet. She was dreading those the most.
"Will you stay for the birth?" she asked curiously, "It's alright if you don't, I can manage. I'm just not sure if you prefer to come back afterwards or stay for the actual... er, process."

Dnali was about to leave when Ashur returned, and she pouted a little, until she noticed Ammit's belly. "Sorry, cubs, but I'm afraid we'll have to wait a little longer. Ammit is going to have her cubs, and I need to help," she knew Ashur would be there, but she felt like she had more experience, having birthed four of her own healthy cubs.
"You for can stay outside and play, or go nap. I know it's been a long day, hopefully tomorrow this heat will be gone and you can show your new play-mates around," she said, licking each of her children affectionately. The white lioness then trotted towards the den, slipping inside. "Am I right in thinking that my cubs are about to get some new little playmates?"

Ashur grunted, sitting tall. "I do whatever makes the lioness most comfortable." Unless of course he had no choice, like in Dnali's case. "If you want me to stay, then I will stay." Then Dnali came in and he turned to look at her, nodding. "It would appear so. I had to run all the way from Clapperclaw to get her here."

Kayin crawled out as well, listening as his mother spoke. He was a little disappointed, but talk of more cubs excited him! He didn't really know where he and his siblings had come from, but he wanted to help! The steadily growing male bounded after his mother, bouncing inside. "Momma thayth Ammit'th gonna have cubth!" He declared. "C'mon, Ammit, you can uthe our bed til we get you your own!"

Ammit grinned as Dnali entered the den, glad to see she was doing well. "I'm in pain right now, but it's not too hard to manage. Just waiting for the contractions to hit," she said, her words a bit worried at the last sentence. Ammit wasn't wanting pain, but she did want her children to arrive safely. Ashur finally responded, and she thought for a moment. "You can stay if you'd like. I'm indifferent either way, but the cubs would be better off seeing their father right away," she answered, a weak smile on her face.
Kayin jumped in as well, and Ammit smiled at him. "Oh, Kayin, that's a lovely offer! But I'm afraid I can't really get back up," she said, chuckling a bit. Ammit didn't want to try and stand, as the pain was slowly increasing with every minute.

"A'right," Kayin said, bouncing up. "I'll go thtart getting peltth for you! You're gonna do great, I can't wait to meet your cubth!" He declared, leaning up to wrap his paws around her neck and give her muzzle a lick. He was growing, but the little male was still just as affectionate and innocent as the day he was born. "Thee ya in a little bit!" He called, turning to run outside. He padded over to the food pile, staring at it in contemplation. They had already skinned the zebra for Jasiri's bed, and the rhino skin didn't look too soft.
Then he noticed Millie and Izkinder. The little kitten seemed to have died! Despite her hostility towards him, he was heart-broken. Any kind of death was absolutely awful in his mind. Still, they and the lioness Vita were the only available pelts. So he set to work, taking the two small pelts and then moving on to Vita.

Dnali smiled at her son, watching his little show of affection. He was so loving, not to mention curious and growing well. She was quite proud of him. She moved closer to Ammit, gently massaging her stomach. "Don't worry too much, the contractions can be a little overwhelming, but there isn't any lingering pain. Once you can move again, you're free to take out bed until Kayin has skinned all the remaining corpses for you," she chuckled. "So, do you have any name ideas?" she asked, trying to keep Ammit's mind of the pain.

Ammit grinned and nuzzled Kayin back, glad to see he was alright after his run-in with Millicent. Her attention turned back to Dnali, who was now massaging her swollen belly. "Oh, goodness, I don't think I could take your bed! I have a little while before they arrive," she said, eyeing her stomach. At the mention of name ideas, Ammit's face went blank. Names! She forgot names!
"Ashur, we never did think of names. Do you have any preferences?" she asked, wondering if he'd take part in naming the pair.

Ashur shrugged a little. Generally he left it up to the females to come up with names. He had so many children, it often grew difficult to think of names. "So long as they're strong-sounding names... name them whatever you what." He smiled kindly, laying down and waiting for the birthing to begin.
