The little Desta had been silently laying down with 2 of her older siblings, plus Nuru, when Musoke picked her up and put her on his back. She smiled slightly, silently saying thanks to him. Then, her parents came out with her dead brother. Her ears went back and she buried her face into the back of Musoke's neck.
She wrapped her tiny arms around him, clinging to his back. She silently sobbed, nuzzling her leopard friend.

Abeni nodded, smiling a little. At least she seemed to understand, and even if she didn't she was picking up language quite quickly. She glanced at Ikenna, who had failed to make a peep since being born. Perhaps he was a late bloomer. Right now she was willing to give her son the benefit of the doubt; while Adanna would likely have to push herself every step of the way to gain her mother's approval.
"Yes, very good, Adanna. See those two new ones? They're the worst. Someday you're going to help me get rid of them, and all the other bad cats, right?" She nuzzled the child for a quick moment, remembering how Ambergris had rewarded she and her brothers with affection. Hopefully the tactic would work here as well. And if not, she'd find another way.

Baneth emerged from the den, Tarik's body carefully resting on her back. Her stomach growled, despite the current situation, and Baneth realized she hadn't eaten in three whole days. She sighed, gently lying her cub on the ground and gently pressing her nose to him in a temporary farewell. The leopardess walked to the corpse of a caracal, leaning down and eating what she could from the body.
She turned again, lifting Tarik once more onto her back, when Khalfani approached, still limping from his injuries. She nuzzled him back, shutting her eyes tightly. "It's okay, Khal. We're leaving here now, no more pain will come from this land," she murmured into his fur, before stepping back and smiling weakly at him. Baneth turned to look at Tau, who must have finally seen Kikilo's body.
"We must leave quickly, before Abeni has anything to say to us. I don't think I could stand hearing her insults again," she said gruffly, leaning down to nuzzle her other children. "Nuru! Adeleke, Astennu! Ambokile! Musoke, Desta, Nepthys! We are leaving!" she called, directing her voice so that her words were but a mumble to Abeni.

Tau frowned at Astennu, wrapping an arm around him and hugging his son. "You have nothing to apologize for, Son. We just need to get away from here." He took a deep breath, then looked up as Baneth began calling everyone together. It was then that he finally noticed... Ambokile wasn't there. His heart stopped and he looked around quickly, before finally turning his gaze back to Astennu. "Where's Ambokile?"

Astennu looked at his father with wide eyes, not knowing how to respond. He had seen Ambokile run off, but he had assumed that his brother would return sooner than he thought. "I-I... he ran off... but I thought he was coming back, like he always does!" he said, his voice full of guilt and worry. "I didn't know he wasn't coming back this time," he said, ducking his head and expecting his father to be angry. After all, Astennu probably deserved a good reprimand, despite honestly not knowing Ambokile was running away rather than hiding.

Baneth overheard Tau and Astennu's words, her heart nearly breaking. She turned, staring Astennu down. "Where did he run to?" she said firmly, raising a brow. She knew he had probably run home, or at least in that direction, and it worried her to no end to know he was out alone. Who knows what could have taken over their previous home!

Tau's heart seemed to fall into his stomach as Astennu spoke. Ambokile had run? But he couldn't be alone! The lion had the same idea as Baneth, that he must have returned to the delta, but Tau could only imagine who or what might have taken over since they had left. Looking to his mate hopelessly, he moved closer to nuzzle her. "I'll find him. Astennu and I will will go after him, okay? We'll find him." He couldn't lose more children today. Licking her lips, he stepped back. "You take everyone north, where you said there should be good territory for us. We'll catch up, okay?" He didn't know if his mate would agree to this or not, but it didn't matter. Tau was going to find his son, but they couldn't drag everyone around hoping they would find him. It was better if it was just Tau and Astennu searching.

Astennu felt incredibly guilty, but at the same time, he had no idea that Ambokile was actually running away this time. That was something he had no control over. He watched his father tell their family to go north, and Astennu saddened a bit. They were going without them, but he knew that they needed to find Ambokile.
The lipard turned to look at his father, trying to strengthen himself so they could find their brother. "Dad, let's go. We can't waste our time, we need to find him!" he said, fidgeting anxiously.

Baneth sighed, knowing that she would be making the long journey without Tau. It broke her heart to know that Ambokile was out there, alone and unprotected, but seeing Tau and Astennu go without her made it worse. She hated being away from her family for any reason, but she knew it must be done. "Very well," she sighed, licking Tau's lips in return.
She smiled at Astennu, then to Tau. "Bring him back safely, okay?" she said, trying to hold her smile. After a minute, though, it faded, and she turned to the rest of her family. "Alright everyone, we're heading out! We're going to Lake Keto," she announced, looking to make sure everyone was there.

Health: 34/61 Last Ate: Day 10 Tau nodded at Astennu before looking once more at Baneth. "We'll find him, don't worry. I love you." He had just quit being king so that he could dedicate himself completely to her and their children. And yet, now he was leaving him, if temporarily and just to find their son. Sighing, he looked back to his other son and gently nuzzled him. "Alright. He has to be in the delta. He has to be." And with that, he started running, heading for the Hook. He just hoped they'd manage alright, considering Tau was relatively useless in the wild and Astennu was still young... ((You can post in the Hook, Bane, and then I'll respond. ))

Musoke couldn't believe his ears. Tau was leaving. He was LEAVING! He fought hard to hold back the grin threatening to spread across his muzzle, and he covered it up with a cough before walking over to the pile of bodies with Desta still on his back. He ate what remained of Ilkivalta before turning to the other bodies. He almost grabbed onto one of the lions before stopping to think. These would be good for him and Baneth, but for the cubs... he doubted they'd be able to eat lion, being half lion themselves. Sighing, he thought for a moment, then glanced over to what remained of the Clapperclaw pride. Well, he'd seen Abeni eat lions, and he didn't really care about anyone else. Smirking, he snuck over to the bit of rhino that was left and clamped his teeth down on it. "Take this." It was heavy, but he did his best to drag it over to everyone else. He'd take this with them.
kYQHwpKO (There's 9 leopard shares of the rhino left, Musoke's strength is 7, so I just need to roll 2's or higher to carry it. Don't screw up, Musoke!)

Desta murmured softly as Tau and Astennu started to leave "Bye daddy, Bye big brother!" She kept a tight hold on Musoke as he picked up a large....er...thingy! It looked grey and red, and....wet. It had weird red liquid that mommy had on her paws once. She slowly leaned over, peering over Musoke's neck to glance at it.
What was it? It smelled weird, and different from milk!

Adanna was frowning in confusion, not really understanding. But the moment her mother nuzzled her, however briefly, it caused the cub to smile brightly and she nodded eagerly. "Yes, Mommy. I'll help you." She paused for a moment, then after a few moments, she hesitantly moved closer to Abeni to lean up and nuzzle her chest, hoping to have the affection returned.

Baneth sighed quietly as Tau and Astennu began their search, watching them run off towards the Hook. She turned to look at her family, but this time, the leopardess was determined to find a good, final home for them. She was tired of moving around (despite being a solitary species). Settling down somewhere would definitely keep them happier.
Noticing Musoke dragging a carcass, she felt a sense of gratitude for the odd male. He was willing to protect them and keep them from going hungry, and despite his odd way of speaking, she could handle being around him for a while. He even kept Desta entertained, which certainly took a load off of Baneth's back.
She snorted quietly, standing up tall. "We're moving out, everyone! Follow me and we'll get there in no time," she called, turning and trotting for the lake.
