Tishan rolled onto her belly as she was scratching a sudden itch on her back. "The thing is i don't know if I was born or not into this little group thing. I don't remember much since the day i last could see, which was like forever never ago. I can't do much hunting beside small and slow prey, but I can hear a stampede of the hoofed creatures lions sometimes eat." She wiggled her way around in the dirt smudging the dirt on her dark colored pelt. "I have been alone for a long time though so I am guessing wondering into this pride."

Abeni's lip curled as her ears swiveled to catch Adanna's squeaky words. That little brat; insulting her own family like that! It was true that she had shown Ikenna more favor, because he bore such a resemblance to her late father, but hadn't she just been doting on Adanna?! That kind of resentment couldn't be allowed to flourish; the pride needed to have strong bonds, especially in her own family.
"Well, Tishan, consider yourself an official member of the Clapperclaw pride. If you're hungry, there's plenty to eat over there, although unless you can stomach lion meat I'd go for the leopard."
She narrowed her eyes, thinking. What was the best way to stamp out this behavior? Well, it was favoritism towards her son that had caused it, so she couldn't simply reprimand the female and comfort him. That would only breed further hostility, like it had in her other brother Anan. Finally, she stood, having a good idea of what she was going to do. "Excuse me for a moment," she murmured, padding over to the two cubs.
The queen gave her daughter a stern look, sitting in front of the pair. "Adanna, don't be so harsh with your brother. You two are going to grow up together, you know. Your uncle Chinyere is my brother, and the only reason we survived was because we had each other. We had another brother once, but he decided he wasn't going to be our sibling anymore. He got our father killed, and left us," she paused, leaning down to lick each of her children's ears. "You need to stick together. Ikenna might be having a hard time right now, but if both of us help him, he'll get strong too. You both need each other; brothers and sisters have to stick together, like me and uncle did."

Tishan continued on with her cub antics of playing in the dirt. Even though she had grown into an adult size, Tishan was more like a cub than the full adult she resembled with her looks. She let out a silent yawn. Tishan hadn't known where her mother had ran off to. Her father had left her and her mother when Tishan was only a few days old, or so her mother had told her when she asked over and over again.
Maybe, Tishan could learn how to be a proper grown pride member from this stern personality that Abeni had presented her with. She really hope she could be a help to some one instead of being a let down or another burden to them. Tishan silently swore to herself that she would try hard and do her best for these few cats. Well, one could have faith in anything, but who knows what the future holds.

Adanna ducked her head when Abeni came over, ears pinned back. But then she looked back to her brother and snorted. "How's he supposed to get stronger if he never even moves?" She carefully bit down on his scruff, dragging a couple inches, then shaking him, trying to get him to wake up, before just letting him drop again. "See? He's not moving! Maybe he's just dead." She turned back to him and headbutted his shoulder, trying hard to get him to wake up.

Chinyere knew Abeni was right about two things, one, he certainly wasn't leader material. He didn't want to lead others, he didn't want to have the weight of lives on his shoulders, and two, him and Abeni survived because they had each other. Finally deciding to come out and introduce himself to this 'Tishan' after Abeni's and Tishan's conversation was over.
He got up, shaking out his mane before padding out, seeing the full grown lioness with her playful cub-like actions. His ears went forward in curiosity, why was a full grown lioness acting like a cub? Maybe she didn't get played with enough when she was a cub, like how Anan didn't get enough love and attention when he was a cub. He padded forward, and spoke with his deep voice "Hello there, as Abeni stated, I'm Chinyere." He sat down, tail flicking.

Tishan sat up shaking out the dirt. "Nice to meet you Chinyere."She let her ears perk back up as she tried to listen to the male's voice, understanding how he might look from his voice. She really wished she could see but she learned to figure out others from their personalities instead of their looks. She flicked her tail in the weird tempo of hers again.
How can such different personalities smash well together to help one enough to survive? Or does she not understand others as well she thought she did? Whatever difference, she would try to keep herself in her place and not anger any other cat.

Ikenna knew his sister was jealous, but it wasn't his fault his mother favored him so much and soon they'd have to be working together to run this pride. So as Adanna threw him on the ground he just stayed still and didn't bother getting up. He would let his sister win for now. "See? He's not moving! Maybe he's just dead," his sister was a fool if she thought he was actually dead. He waited for the right moment to attack, and as she headbutted him he did. Jumping up, he knocked her on the ground as gently as he could and pinned her on her side.

Abeni was going to scold her children, both for laziness and meanness, but before she could Ikenna made his state of life known. She chuckled, grinning as her son began to fight back. Perhaps he was slow with speech, but this was clearly strategic. He was quiet and calm, but now he showed his strength as well. So far he wasn't like Alibaster in personality, but she didn't really mind that. He would carry the strength of their family regardless.
"Oh, I don't think he's dead," she laughed. "Looks like you woke him up, Adanna. Now I think it's time you both started learning some battle strategies; it's never to early to learn to defend yourself. Especially with how many enemies our family has."
The queen stretched, thinking about what their first lesson could be. Her own teaching had begun with climbing, but these two were far more lion than leopard; their bodies weren't suited for the trees. "We'll begin with your claws," she lifted a paw, flexing it to show them her long, curved weapons. "Yours are small now, but they will grow, and you need to know how to take care of them. You'll have to sharpen them every day, like so." she padded over to the tree where their nest was, though she would soon move the royal family into the traditional den. The lioness reared up, sinking her claws into the bark and working them downward for a few moments. The dull, dead layers scraped off, revealing newer, sharper layers.

Ikenna stepped off of his sister and quickly followed his mother. Learning how to use his strength was something he was quite interested in. After her demonstration, he padded up to the tree and did just as his mother had. He placed his paw against the bark and drug it down. At first his claws got stuck and he had to adjust them several times, but after a few attempts, he started seeing actual noticeable marks in the trees. He continued, trying to get the hang of it, and looked up at his mother in a prideful way.

Adanna gasped when her brother suddenly pounced on her, then growled and kicked her hind legs to shove him off of her. "Think you're clever, huh?" She muttered the words under her brother, curling her lips back. One thing was for certain, Adanna certainly had her mother's aggression.
Pushing herself back onto her paws, she followed after her mother and brother, watching as Abeni dragged her claws down the bark, then raised herself onto her two hind paws, placing her fronts on the tree and staring intently for a moment. Then she began kneading her toes, curling them around the bark to get a feel for it. Then she suddenly began to roughly pull her tiny claws downward, though considering she and her brother were cubs, there wasn't really a lot of sharpen, and what there was didn't need sharpening at all in the least bit. Though on the brightside, she did a fairly good job and pulling the bark off to reveal the smooth wood underneath.
With the little pile of bark at her feet, Adanna turned to Abeni, a determined look on her face. "Now teach us something that's actually a challenge." She wanted to show off, demonstrate her strength, and prove to Abeni that was stronger than her brother. Which she wanted to do that as soon as possible, since Ikenna had been motionless until now while she had been active, she'd gotten a head start in developing her strength. She wanted to take advantage of that.

Abeni grinned, watching both of her cubs as they worked their claws through the bark. Even if they didn't need to sharpen them now, it was good to learn, and would help them balance. At Adanna's words, she chuckled, nodding. "Hmm, let's see," she murmured, thinking. "Before we get to proper sparring, you'll need to get some muscle on you. The two of you are mostly lion, so you won't be wonderful climbers, but right now you should be able to get up Softwood."
Even Tima had been able to pull himself up into the branches. "Because you're mostly lion you'll be too heavy to get into the branches of most trees, but being able to pull yourself up a tree-trunk has its advantages too. See how high you can get," she instructed, showing off a little as she easily leaped into the higher branches of Softwood.

Adanna didn't care for all this explanation. She just wanted to be told what she could do to show off her strength, and that was it. So the moment Abeni told them to climb the tree, the little cub immediately turned back to the tree trunk, crouched, wriggled her rear end in the air for good measure, then pounced. She practically smashed her face into the wood, but thankfully she'd scratched off all the bark in that particular spot so she didn't need to worry about, say, getting her eye poked out by a loose piece of bark.
Though she was dazed, she quickly shook her head and began to push herself upward. She was still a cub, of course, not that old, so her muscles were still developing. But in the short time she'd been alive, she'd been active, so other than needing a moment to get used to the way gravity was pushing on her from this angle, she was quickly adapting. Her little claws had trouble holding onto the smoother bark, but as she reached the areas she hadn't scratched off, she was able to curl toes and claws around the bark and more easily push herself upwards, a determined expression on her face. "Too heavy... puh." She was muttering to herself as she climbed. "Ikenna's gonna eat my dust."
Of course she wasn't really paying attention to her brother as she went, focusing only on climbing as she headed upward toward Abeni. Finally she reached her first branch and she pulled herself onto it, panting and taking a short breath, before looking back up to her mother. "Gonna get you!" She smirked and crouched once more, despite being rather tired at this point, before launching herself upward again. No way was she going to let her pathetic brother get to their mother first.

Ikenna placed his paws on the tree and hoisted himself up with a hind leg. He pulled himself up, and although it was difficult, his masculinity and lightness enabled him to climb with ease at first. But his weight seemed to slowly remind him that it was there. He got another few inches before getting tired. One of his hind legs slipped and he immediately dug all of his claws in the bark and re-positioned his leg. His other leg slipped and without much thought he jumped out of the tree. His land wasn't exactly soft and he could feel a slight stinging in his paws, but he didn't completely embarrass himself, either. Ikenna stood up-right and dropped his head. So far, he wasn't exactly as strong as he thought he'd be.

Abeni watched them climb, hoping to see some of their leopard blood shining through, but it was obvious from the way they moved that they were lion through and through. Still, Adanna was making impressive progress, and even Ikenna managed to get rather high. As he jumped to the ground, she narrowed her eyes and called down. "Come on, Ikenna. Try again, you can't let Adanna beat you at everything!"
Adanna was getting even closer. "Good work, Adanna. If you feel off balance use your tail," she said, watching Ikenna out of the corner of her eye. Despite knowing that he and his sister ought to be equal in her eyes, his appearance made her more fond of him. She was silently hoping that he would prove his strength now.

Adanna's ears flicked as she heard her brother fall and she smirked, quickening her pace even though she was already exhausted. Yet when Abeni cheered him on she looked up at her mother with wide eyes and her jaw dropped. It erased a bit of her heartache when Abeni praised her, but the little cub had it in her mind that Abeni was basically telling Ikenna to be better than her. Growling, she grew more determined to get higher up and show Abeni that she was better than Ikenna, not only in climbing, but in every other test she might present to her cubs.
As she passed by each branch, she would take a break, but not a very long one, before launching herself upward again. And when finally she made it to the branch Abeni was on, she was panting hard but glaring, and despite her body begging her to lay down and rest, she stood, claws dug into the branch to keep herself steadied. She thought of something to say, maybe some smartass comment about being better than Ikenna, or Ikenna before the weakest of them, but then she figured that would just bring Abeni's wrath on her, so instead she settled for roughly nuzzling Abeni's leg, silently demanding a nuzzle for her good work.
