Kayin was just about to try pouncing himself when their father appeared. The young male had hardly noticed the cold while they played, but now that he mentioned it, it was pretty dang chilly out! The weather certainly had been strange lately. He joined Sekai in nuzzling their father, grinning up at him. "We've been having fun, that's how!" He declared. "Momma was teachin' us how to pounce, Sekai did a really big jump and got her!"
He too noticed his sister's attitude and frowned, tilting his head. "That's okay, Asha! I'm kinda hungry!" he added, racing after her. He nuzzled the chubby female with a smile, and pulled the rhino back onto the ground. He finished off the remaining share quickly, licking his lips and letting out a small burp.

Asha frowned as she realized she had upset her sister. It seemed the erratic weather was having some negative effects on the young cubs' attitude. She padded back to the group, gently nudging the much larger Sekai. "Sorry, I guess it's this weather," she mumbled, giving a shy smile. "I'll try not to be so rude, I think I need to cool down-er, warm up."

Ashur smiled at Sekai and Kayin. They seemed to be the most active of his cubs. Kayin wasn't particularly hopeful, as he was far too kind for his own good, and Sekai was too soft spoken, but out of the litter, he figured they were the best. Of course, then Asha appeared and he nodded a small greeting to her. She had been hopeful at first, too, but then she had just suddenly stopped... well, everything. He was glad to see her up and about again. Of course his gladness immediately melted away when he heard his daughter's mouthiness and his fur bristled and his eyes narrowed. Now where had that come from?
Oh well. He didn't care where it had come from. "If you're going to be like this every time there's a change in the weather, perhaps you'd be better off never leaving the den again." Not that he'd let her do that. If anything, he would force her out into the elements until she got used to it. He wouldn't have his daughter being so sensitive. Looking to Dnali, he gave her a look that said she might want to have a talk with their second daughter, before turning and walking back toward the Watch. "Now come on. Kayin's eaten, but I'll bet you're hungry, Dnali."

Dnali got up, following after the others. It was true, she hadn't eaten in two days, and while she could go a lot longer without food she would like a meal. "Quite right, I could use a good meal after all that rough-housing," she purred, rubbing against Ashur's side and trotting ahead of the group. She glanced back at Sekai, her brow furrowed. Her biggest daughter was developing what looked like an adolescent's mane, not to mention a lot more muscle-mass than was normal on a lioness.
"Ashur," she said quietly, returning to pad along beside him. "I've noticed something a little bit strange about Sekai. At first I thought she was just a little fluffier, but it looks like she's growing a mane!" The young mother had never heard of a maned lioness, and she was rather concerned about the girl's health.

Sekai snorted a little at Asha, then simply shook out her fluffy neck and started heading toward home. She was unaware of her parents talking about her as she walked ahead, and currently, she was still unaware that her fluffy neck was at all an oddity. Her brother Kayin was growing longer fur on his neck, so what was so odd about her? Of course she noticed that Asha wasn't growing longer fur, and her mother certainly didn't have a mane, but somehow the adolescent didn't connect it to gender. So, she simply continued on toward the Watch, not a care in the world.
