Kazimir padded into the Watch quietly, watching with interest. He was a little shocked by the bodies lying around, shifting uncomfortably for a moment. Had he chosen the wrong pride, after all? But no, he was already accepted, at least for the moment. He had to stick it out, gain their trust. At the talk of moving bodies, he quickly volunteered. "I'll help as well, if I'm needed," he said it quietly, so as not to intrude, but loud enough to be heard.
The male watched Ammit go, following her movement to the den. Alright, so that was one place he was not to approach. He turned to Jasiri, the young lion Ashur had given him over to. For a moment he was confused, tilting his head ever so slightly. At first glance he looked like a fluffy female, but now he could see the stunted beginnings of a mane around his face. He carried the scent of the pride strong on him, so he was likely born here, unlike Kazimir.
"Hello, Jasiri," he said, voice friendly but solemn. "It looks like I've joined you at a bad time, but my name is Kazimir." He looked at the body of Azikiwe, ears back. He wasn't overly fond of other males, of course, but seeing another lion dead was cause for concern. Or at least feigned concern. "I assume you knew him? I'm very sorry for your loss," he added quietly.

Dnali smiled as Ammit returned, though she was a bit concerned by the strange smell lingering on the lioness. "Well, I assume everything went alright?" she asked, nuzzling her friend. As Rudo began to speak, she smiled, leaning down to lick his forehead. "He's quite strong. I don't know what you believe about death, Ammit, but I think little Rudo's brother will be with him all his life, in spirit if not in the flesh."

Kayin was glad when Ammit came back, feeling less unsure about himself. He placed his front paws on her side, sniffing at his little brother curiously. "Hi Rudo!" He said brightly. He was upset that the other cub was stillborn, but felt that it was better to focus on the living cub rather than the dead one. "'M Kayin, your big brother! An That'th Thekai, she'th your big thithter!" He licked the cuddly young male's head happily, looking at him with adoration.
A moment later he caught a whiff of the new male, Kazimir,'s scent. He rushed to the den entrance, looking around until he spotted the male. Wow, he was huge, just like dad! The unruly mane and multitude of scars caught his attention immediately, but he was feeling a little shy, so he returned to the den. "Who'th that big guy outthide, Ammit?"

Ivy looked as Ashur finally came back with Ammit and attended to their new son. She looked at the new male, he looked fit and strong, if not missing a couple of body parts. Her ears went forward and she watched him carefully as he talked to Jasiri.
He didn't seem....too bad, but he was new and he hasn't fought for the pride yet. She slowly got up, groaning as her muscles ached. She climbed down from the rocks and sat near the den, grooming herself.

Jasiri was surprised when his father and Ammit returned with a strange lion, and he eyed the male warily. But the stranger was heavily scarred, even missing body parts, and Jasiri took that as a sign of weakness, so he he shrugged it off, glancing down at Azikiwe. He was still very much depressed over his friend's death, but he would live, just like he had lived through his mother's death, and his siblings'.
But then he was put in charge of this new male, and he groaned a little, standing up. He did NOT want to be put on babysitting duty. And anyway, he was injured! Who's bright idea was it to put a seriously injured lion in charge of a stranger? "Yes, I did know him." He gave Azikiwe one last, sad glance, before turning back to Kazimir. "And where did you come from?"

Kazimir was glad that Jasiri didn't show immediate hostility, perhaps he would be easier to befriend than the others. Being new, it was apparent that he needed to find at least one or two friends as quickly as possible. He sat down, quirking a small, lopsided smile. "It's a very long story, but I traveled here from the north a few days ago," He didn't really want to divulge his life's story just yet. That would have to wait until he had a true place among these lions. Who knows how they would react to his past?
"Am I correct in saying that you're Ashur's son? You look quite a bit like him, dark coat and all," he asked, changing the subject as casually as he could. He studied Jasiri subtly, stump of a tail flicking from side to side. He seemed to lack the size and muscle of a male as well as the mane, though Kazimir had no idea how old he was. Maybe he was just a late bloomer? Regardless, he did look quite a bit like a lioness, despite having a distinctly male scent. If all of Ashur's cubs were like that, he could understand why he was so aggressive. Being strong but having weak offspring would make any parent upset.

Jasiri grunted, watching Kazimir suspiciously. "Yes, I'm his son. So don't underestimate me." Of course he was thinking of his mane, or rather, lack of one. He knew what other pride members thought of him, being maneless and gay and about as unmasculine as a lion can get. But the pouty male, even if he was weak physically, wasn't about to take crap from anyone, especially not a newcomer. Nevermind that this guy hadn't said anything. Jasiri was just trying to make a strong first impression, rather than just being the quiet, submissive maneless male. He was the son of the king, and he would act like it. "Well, I guess first thing's first. We'll move the bodies." He looked down at Azikiwe, frowning, and as much as he wanted to carry the male's body himself, he wasn't quite strong enough, especially while injured. He was going to have a hard enough time carrying his mother's body. "You carry him." He walked over to Vita's body, which was just a ways off, then very gently lifted her onto his back. "We'll take them to the Tallhair Savanna. Come on."

The new mother's heart leaped when her son called her 'mum'. Ammit's eyes nearly filled with tears of joy as she watched her son cuddle her nose. "That's right, Rudo!" she squeaked, nuzzling her only son. "I'm your mother... and you are Rudo. Can you say your name? Rudo?" she said, giving him another encouraging lick.
Dnali returned, and Ammit gave the female a friendly head rub. "Everything is alright, though Ashur accepted another male into the pride. His name is Kazimir. I'm not quite sure what Ashur's plans are, but he must have a reason for allowing him into the pride, especially after all of the drama," she said quietly, making sure her voice did not carry outside the den. When the lioness mentioned the deceased cub, her eyes flicked to the cold, lonely body. "His name would have been Horus. But I believe Rudo will carry his strength and his brother's strength together in life," she replied, smiling softly.
She watched as Kayin interacted with her living son, grinning all the while, until the cub rushed to den entrance. Clearly he was interested in Kazimir, but Ammit knew he would not approach the suspicious male. "That is Kazimir, Kayin. He is a new pride male, and you are not to approach him, okay? We have to keep an eye on him. And if you see him talking to a lioness, a cub, or approaching the den, you tell your mother, me, or your father, okay?" she said, making sure he knew what was to be done.

Rudo smiled brightly at the praise, and repeated the word several more times. "Mum, Mum!" As she asked about his name, he tilted his head to the side curiously, and hesitantly opened his mouth. "Ru... Roooo... do! Ruuuu-do!" He grinned at his success, or what he figured was success, but then his stomach growled and he carefully crawled off of his mother so that he could return to her belly and get back to nursing. He heard his mother continuing to speak, and once his belly was full again, he looked up at her, tilting his head to the side. It sounded like she was saying another name. "Hooo... Horrrr... us. Horrrrus." He made a growling sound as he said the name, and he couldn't help but giggling at how fierce he sounded! "Horrrrrus!"

Ashur had done his rounds around the Watch, and after checking up on Jasiri and the new male again, he finally headed back toward the den, crawling inside. Rudo was nursing again, and he smiled a little, sitting down. "Once he is stronger, we'll take him out on a walk." He glanced at Dnali then. "I believe our cubs have yet to leave the Watch, either." Usually he liked to take the cubs out before they reached adolescence, but obviously they were running late with this particular litter. They were all growing so fast.

Dnali nodded, sighing. "I was going to take them out yesterday, but it was so hot, and Ammit was having her cubs. Perhaps once Rudo gets on his feet we can all take a trip up to the watering holes to lay Horus to rest," She replied. "Oh, unless you'd prefer to do it alone, Ammit."
She stood then, stretching. "In the mean time, I think they might need a little battle-practice," she smirked playfully, tail curling behind her. "Perhaps you'd like to help me, Ashur?"

Kazimir smiled at the youngster's ferocity, nodding. "I wouldn't think of it," he replied. "You've got to be strong to survive wounds like that. I've had my fair share of fights, but I don't think I could survive anything that severe." When Jasiri mentioned moving bodies, he nodded, pulling Azikiwe onto his back with ease.
"Of course, lead the way," he murmured. "I haven't gotten much of a chance to look around yet, but I'm a pretty quick learner."

Ammit's grin grew even wider as her son spoke more, his speech becoming more confident with every word. "Good, good! That's wonderful, Rudo! You're a quick learner," she said proudly, leaning down to give her son a nuzzle. He then tried to say his brother's name, an added growling 'r' sound giving it more emphasis. She chuckled softly. "Yes, Rudo. Horus," she murmured, glancing over to her deceased child. She would need to bury him soon.
Ashur's return garnered the lioness' attention as he spoke of taking Rudo out for a walk. She looked to Dnali and her cubs, grinning. "I think it'd be a wonderful idea. Rudo should get used to his siblings as early as possible to ensure his family ties will be strong," she answered, looking down at Rudo.
Dnali mentioned the watering holes and of taking Horus to his resting place, which earned a subtle nod from the new mother. "A mother should not bury her child alone. I would prefer some company to wish him well in the afterlife," she answered, a soft grin on her face. The grief she felt for her stillborn cub had passed, and she was glad he was not born suffering.

Ashur smiled a little, nodding at Dnali. Battle-practice would be perfect. The cubs needed to gain strength and fighting experience somehow, after all. Though as the conversation turned to Horus, he looked down at the stillborn cub with a sigh. "Well, would you like to do that now, or should we wait a while?" It would be good for Rudo to start walking and gaining strength right away, but at the same time, it might all be too much of a shock for the new cub. It would be up to Ammit, at any rate.
