Rudo pouted a bit at his mother's words. But he wanted a mane NOW! And he wanted it to be as big as Daddy's! "I don't wanna wait!" He huffed, sitting down and looking very grumpy even as Ammit nuzzled him. "When will I be older?" He looked up at his mother pleadingly, as though begging her to make him get older faster so that he could have his mane already. The wait was already torture enough!

She frowned a bit at her son's sudden change of mood, and she pulled him close with her paw. "You are getting older as we speak, Rudo! You'll be grown in no time, my dear," she purred, looking up to Ashur, her eyes a bit clueless. Her gaze said 'feel free to help here!' as she looked at him, though a kind smile was on her face. Ammit was definitely in need of some help from Rudo's father.

Ashur blinked then sighed in slight annoyance at his son's sudden change in attitude. At Ammit's look he groaned a little, but decided he'd help her out. "Rudo, all males start out small and with no manes. Why, I used to be just as small as you once, with no mane or anything. But I grew up. And you will, too. But you have to be patient, understood?" His voice was stern, leaving no room for argument. "Enjoy cubhood while it lasts. You'll learn to miss it once you're older."

Ammit listened as Ashur spoke to their son, nodding with his words. "Your father is right, you must be patient, Rudo. Good things come to those who wait," she murmured, smiling softly. Ashur did seem a bit irritated by Rudo's behavior, but then again, he wasn't exactly used to being around his children this long. He seemed to be growing tired of it already... he wouldn't survive as a lioness!

Rudo still didn't look at all happy, though he did flinch a little at his father's tone, ducking his head. He wasn't at all pleased with the answer he'd gotten from his parents, but he supposed he'd just live with it, anyhow. "Alright." He was still feeling impatient, though, and he sighed grumpily. "Momma, my legs are woken up now. Can we go exploring?"

It wasn't that Ashur grew annoyed with his children. He just grew annoyed with the stupid or annoying things they said, which just so happened to always happen eventually. Still, the cub seemed to have shut up about a mane now, and with a sigh, Ashur smiled again. "That's up to your mother." Although he still wanted to wait for Dnali and their cubs to return.

Ammit was pleased to see that Rudo had let the topic of manes go, glad to see he finally understood. Even if he was unhappy, he knew he would have to wait for his mane to come in. Rudo brought up exploring again, and she looked to Ashur, only to be told that it was her decision. Dnali and the others hadn't returned yet, so Ammit turned to Rudo. "I think we should be polite and wait for Dnali and your siblings, my sweet. I'm sure they'd love to go with us, too!" she answered, smiling.

Rudo pouted once more. He wanted to explore, though, and see the territory! Why should he be punished, confined to this little den, just because the rest of his family was slow? Still, while this may have led to another mini-tempter tantrum, instead he decided to find some other way to occupy himself in the meantime, and after a moment of thinking, he let out a playful growl and pounced onto his mother. "You dare deny me the right to explore? You shall be punished!" He giggled a little in between his growling, then gently gnawed the bridge of her nose.

Ammit chuckled, watching Rudo pounce onto her face, his little teeth digging into her nose. "Oh no! You're much too strong!" she crooned dramatically, falling onto her side. The lioness played dead, falling limp and relaxing every muscle possible. Her tongue lolled out of her mouth, slowing her breathing.

Rudo grinned victoriously when his mother fell to the side, feeling extremely proud of himself. Though he also felt bad for being so rough on her, and after a moment he jumped onto her shoulder, turning so that he could nuzzle her neck and bite her ear. "C'mon, Momma, get up! I'm sorry for hurting you." He licked her cheek, then just sort of snuggled up there on her neck, curling into a little ball.

Not much was going on, so Ivy just lay there on the rocks. She was cold, but not like she would walk up to somebody and ask for warmth. She stayed there, watching the night sky and she tried to keep herself warm, scrunched up and her head on her paws and against her chest. She watched the stars and the land. It wasn't very active in Sunbaked, and for some reason, it put her on the edge.

Ashur smiled as he watched his son and the mother play, although a gentle breeze blew in at that moment, bringing in the cold air and he couldn't help but shiver a little, even with his thick pelt. Dnali and the cubs were taking a while. Sighing, he stood up, looking to the two of them. "Wait here. I'll be right back." He turned and stepped out of the den, catching sight of Ivy. Seeing her curled up like that, he snorted to catch her attention, then jerked his head toward the den. "Get inside before you freeze to death." With how cold it was, at least for Africa, he expected the den to be rather full tonight. Ah well. He could stand to stay outside himself so that the lionesses and cubs could stay warm. Shaking out his mane, he started heading for the Watering Holes.

Kazimir had kept to himself for most of the day, ignoring the others for the most part. He wasn't sure what he could do to earn the pride's trust, but he supposed being useful and quiet would be a good start.
Now it was getting cold out, the shadow from his rock gone. He stood, trotting in circles to get his blood flowing before he leaped up onto the still warm rock, curling up. He was unused to the cold, but it was a nice change. He wouldn't be panting all night long.
His stomach was rumbling, but he chose to ignore that. Perhaps tomorrow he would be allowed to feed; right now he wasn't going to trouble anyone. Not even Jasiri. Content for the moment, he got comfortable, looking over the Watch with half-lidded eyes.

Kazimir at some point just sort of left Jasiri, but after a moment the maneless male shrugged and sighed, following after him. He'd been ordered to watch the big lion, and that's what he was going to do. Especially when he saw his father heading out back to the Watering Holes. Snorting, he jumped onto a rock near Kazimir's and laid down, keeping an eye on him like always. An awkward silence fell over them, but Jasiri paid no mind. His grief remained, but it was starting to fade, giving him a numb feeling in his heart.

Ashur headed toward the Watch at a brisk pace, though he always made sure Dnali could keep up. It was almost morning, and she definitely needed some food. Generally the Sunbaked could go several days without eating, but with the amount of meat they did have, Ashur saw no reason for them to not eat at the very least, every other day.
As they walked, though, she spoke of Sekai, and he raised a brow as he glanced back at their largest child. She DID have a rather fluffy mane... and it was growing every day. "How strange..." He frowned in confusion, not sure of what to think. He, too, had never seen a maned lioness before, and to be honest, it almost disturbed him. And yet, he almost felt as if it made up for Jasiri's manelessness, in a way. "Well, I haven't noticed any health problems with her. She's eating meat now, anyway. She should be fine." Grunting, he continued on toward the Watch, and as they finally made it there, he went straight to the food pile, sitting down near it to make sure Dnali ate.
