Well, that figured. Ah well, he wasn't exactly interested in having his own cubs right now. He just needed to get back in the swing of things. He simply nodded, keeping his lazy smile. "Well, I'll be sure to remember that and keep my distance. I'd like to stick around for a little while at least," the red-coated male laughed, laying his head down on the ground. His curly mane fluffed up around his face, forcing him to shut one eye. "So, are you ever gonna head out on your own?" he asked, blowing at his wild fur to try and get it out of the way. He had no such luck, pretty much buried in the thick fur.

Jasiri smiled awkwardly, but made no comment about that. He didn't care what happened with this male, but he did know that if he did try anything, Jasiri would stand by his father, no matter what. As the male asked about if Jasiri would leave, the maneless lion shook his head. "No. I would very much like to stay in my home pride, until the day I die." Loyal to the end. And plus, he felt like if he left, then he would betray his mother, who had been incredibly loyal herself.

"Glad to hear it," Kazimir said, grinning. A moment later he yawned, stretching to the tips of his toes before going limp. So, Jasiri wanted to be a subordinate for life. That didn't make much sense to him, but to each his own. Regardless, there was something different about him besides his lack of a mane, Kazimir just couldn't quite place it yet. Maybe he was one of those celibates? It was possible, he supposed. "Which way you swing?" he asked.
In the pit, you took affection where you could get it, or not at all. Kazimir had gone a full two years without any kind of friendship or gentle interaction. The only kind of conversation there was very interrogational and judgmental, to say the least. The lack of conversation had certainly made him blunt.

Health: 65/65 Last ate: Day 10 Shadedapple walked over to some prey and ate some sable, taking one lion share. "Ah, that's good. I haven't had a square meal in three days, no joke."

Jasiri raised a brow at Kazimir, not quite understanding. After all, in Sunbaked, nobody ever really used such... informal terms. He had never heard the word 'swing' in this context before. Maybe he was asking which way he tended to swing his paw when attacking prey? "Umm.... to the left with my right paw?" But he felt as if that was a stupid answer, and he blushed, both for that and just for not understanding the question. "Er, nevermind. What exactly do you mean?"

Kazimir couldn't help but laugh at that, a deep, booming sound that bounced off the rocks around them. "You're cute, kid," he chuckled, sitting up just a bit. "Sorry, I guess you guys don't use slang like that. Makes sense, I s'ppose. Nah, it means do you like guys or gals or both. Personally, I go either way." He could see the kid's embarrassment, internally praising himself. So nobody around here used much slang. He'd picked up a lot in the ring, and he might be able to use that to his advantage one day.

Shadedapple walked up to them and smiled. "If your strength was as big as your voice, maybe you could take over this pride." She didn't mean to bother him, she was just testing her limits. "I'm going to patrol. Catcha later."

Jasiri blushed further, mentally kicking himself in the head at his own stupidity. Shadedapple had approached them again, and he glared at her. Had he not told her to keep away? Thankfully she left soon enough, and he sighed, only to freeze up at Kazimir's question. Thinking quickly, he mumbled, "Does it matter? Even if I did like lionesses, I wouldn't be able to do anything about it. And either way, Sunbaked sort of discourages... romance. Not out loud, but, well... we're a pride, a family, but we can't let ourselves get distracted." He stared down at his paws sadly. Sunbaked members were always encouraged to help and protect one another, but as for close bonds, well... with how frequent death was in the wild, it was generally a good idea to keep emotional connections at a minimum. It just that much worse, then, when somebody died. Of course, living together, they couldn't really be avoided. Even Ashur grew very close to others, even if he never formed romantic feelings. He'd been close to Vita, to Askari, Kelele, Kasi, and even Azikiwe. But either those connections hadn't been too strong, or Ashur was just that good at pushing his emotions away, because he would only grieve for a few minutes before he was able to move on. Yet here Jasiri was, still mourning his mother and Azikiwe, and all of his dead siblings.

"Ah, so you're into guys," he said simply, giving Jasiri a smirk. "It matters because it's a part of who you are." he stated a moment later, looking rather serious. His scarred up lips were no longer turned up in a lazy smirk, more of a business like line.
"I've seen enough to know that forgetting who you are is one of the worst things you can do. If you can't hold onto yourself, eventually you empty out. Go crazy. It's the saddest thing I've ever seen, and even if I don't know you well yet, it'd kill me to see another animal go through that again," he focused on Jasiri's eyes, staring at him for a long moment before turning slightly and breaking eye contact.
He had been sold into the fights with a few other lions, three females and one male. The females were quickly separated, taken to a different 'storage' area, he guessed. The male was his kennel neighbor. His name was Schato, and he was even younger than Kazimir had been, barely getting his mane in. The ring destroyed him. After a few weeks he couldn't remember his own name, all that was left in his head was fear. Safe to say he didn't last long after that.

Jasiri sighed a little as Kazimir spoke. He had already heard the exact same thing from Azikiwe. It wasn't that Jasiri was denying who he was, as there was really no point to that. Asher accepted him, and if the king did, everyone did. Jasiri just wasn't all that willing to open himself up to a stranger. And for some reason it annoyed him that he was repeating what Azikiwe had said, as though he were still the other male's words straight from his mouth. There was no reason for Jasiri's annoyance toward that, and he knew it, which was why he tried to hide it, but still. "I know."
He stood up then, walking slowly over to the food pile. "I need to get something to eat." He nosed around the giant pile of food for a bit before finally settling on some of the rhino. This had been his last hunt with Askari, albeit with Clapperclaw lions.

Kazimir watched in silence, mulling everything over in his head. It was clear Ashur didn't like him, and it seemed that because of that Jasiri didn't like him either. Well, then again, maybe he was just being a little too forward. He figured being friendly was the best way to gain acceptance, but maybe he was wrong. This pride seemed a lot like his old one, although there was definitely less fear in the air. He had to find a way to be useful.
What was he supposed to do, though? There was plenty of food here, no fighting, and he had been ordered to keep away from the den. Perhaps he should have stayed rogue, he'd learned a long time ago that trust got you nowhere. He didn't trust these animals, of course, but he let his guard down around Jasiri because he knew he could easily kill the injured male. Jasiri wouldn't be likely to attack him in this state.
Right now he was fairly calm, no one besides himself and the grumpy kid were in the Watch. But he couldn't help but feel like Ashur and Ammit would be keeping a very close eye on him. They would probably take any opportunity to attack him; as far as he could see this was a very dangerous game. And it wasn't one on one like the ring, this was two, three, four on one. Maybe more. He had to gain someones trust quickly, or just stay in the shadows as long as he could.
"Sorry, it's your business, not mine. Course if you ever need a cuddle, feel free to come find me," he said finally, his tone lifting into teasing playfulness near the end. As Jasiri ate, he rolled over so that he faced the boulder, just in case the male got too irritated by him. Even if Jasiri struck the first blow, he knew he'd be out in a flash if he fought back.

Too soon. Azikiwe had just died not too long ago, and Jasiri had been hoping to cuddle with him once he got back from visiting stupid Abrihet. It was as if this lion was doing all he could to replace Azikiwe! Jasiri turned back to glare at Kazimir, though there was no denying the hurt in his eyes. "No thanks." Huffing, he laid down, pouting. Why had his father put him in charge of this stupid rogue? Obviously. Azikiwe was dead and there was no other male available. He sighed sadly, staring at his outstretched paws. Perhaps soon, he'd cool off. But right now, it was too soon for this rogue male to be... flirting with him.

Ivy woke up much, much later. The lioness has been confined to the Watch since she hasn't exactly been in the best of conditions. Her ears went forward, her eyes narrowed sleepily and her body aching. Little scars littered her pelt by now, but she didn't pay much attention to them.
She slowly got up and walked out of the den to find Jasiri and the new male talking. She looked at them before walking up to the rocks and jumped up until she could watch over the land. It seemed most of the pride had gone out somewhere, she hadn't paid much attention to them since she was sleeping.

Ashur led Ammit back to the Watch, glancing around and searching for Kazimir and Jasiri. They were still talking, and Ivy was laying around, napping. Well, at least the Watch hadn't been thrown into chaos during his absence. Leading Ammit toward the den, he paused once near the food pile, chowing down on some of the rhino there and gulping the tough meat down. Once he was full, he stepped back, glancing at Ammit. "Take some for yourself, then I'll take the rest to Dnali for them to eat while they play. I'll return right after, though."

The mother followed behind Ashur, taking care to make her strides smooth to ensure Rudo's comfort. She watched as the king took his share of rhino, smiling when he turned to speak to her. "Stay safe, Ashur. Take as long as you need," she replied, leaning down and tearing a bit of rhino off for herself.
When she dragged the meat to the den, Ammit settled herself down, laying her son down at her belly. She curled her limbs around him, making sure he got enough warmth from her. Ammit began eating from the chunk of meat she had brought into the den, making sure she was quiet. "Rudo, we're back home, dear. You can sleep soundly now," she whispered, licking the top of his head.
